Welcome Spring with 108 Sun Salutations!
A Power Yoga Class with Kevin Collins
Cost: All proceeds will benefit East Bay SPCA
Come join the Spring Mala at Groove! Each equinox and solstice is greeted with a round of 108 Sun Salutations to see off the prior season and move into the new one with momentum. The vernal (spring) equinox is the time when night and day are in equal balance as the sun crosses the celestial equator and the Earth’s tilt relative to the Sun is zero. This is an auspicious time of perfect balance, as light prepares to overtake dark, warming temperatures and signifying the entrance into life-affirming spring.
We’ll do 108 Sun Salutations (a mix of A and B) in 9 sets of 12, with a short break between each round. Each set will be dedicated to a specific intention or aspect of the transition, and all of it will be wrapped up in an energizing, inspiring ceremony. If you’ve never tried 108 Sun Salutations before, you should know two things:
1. You can do it
2. It feels so good that you’ll be blocking your calendar for June 22nd
There is no cost for this practice. It’s Kevin’s personal practice that he decided to open up to everyone. We will have a donation box and will use the proceeds to purchase toys, beds and treats for some poor homeless animals at the SPCA and could use a little more fun in their lives.
The East Bay SPCA is an independent nonprofit animal welfare agency that has provided shelter, health care, and adoption services for unwanted animals since 1874. Committed to finding homes for adoptable cats and dogs, providing affordable veterinary and spay/neuter services, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership, the East Bay SPCA works to find homes for every animal in their program – no matter how long it takes.
